Melton Hockey Club can trace it roots back to 1952 starting on the playing fields of Melton Grammar School at the top of Burton Road, where the club still plays today. The club was known as 'Melton Old Grammarians', consisting of just one team playing friendly matches. In 1962 the club moved to the centre of Melton in Egerton Park where they became know and Egerton Park HC and the name still lives on in the clubs touring side the 'Grape Tonkers'
A slow period of expansion occurred with another 2 teams being added, taking the total to 3 by 1982, and then 4 until 1992, moving to the new Astroturf at King Edwards VII Upper School at the site of the former Grammar School. After the move, the men's and ladies' sections amalgamated to form a new Melton Hockey Club in 2003.
Currently, we have 3 men's teams and 1 ladies' team all playing league hockey. The club is still based at the former King Edward Vii site, Melton Sports Village, where it shares facilities with the local community and Melton Rugby Club. The club has over 70 active members, with ages ranging from 5 to 80, playing from September to April. The senior teams play in the Midlands leagues, with mixed, junior and youth teams playing in friendlies and tournaments.
